Texas Music Partners depends on our volunteer committees to help ensure our organizational health and effectiveness. We currently have 3 volunteer committees. Every committee is equally important to TMP’s success so the members of each committee should be aware of how important you are to the success of our mission. Below is a diagram of the committee structure followed by the duties of each committee. Committee Member Duties
Development/Fundraising Committee (Dev/FR)
(approx. 6-12 members)
Are you the type of person who is good at seeing the forest and creating an overall strategy to ensure that the mission of Texas Music Partners is funded and can continue to expand? Or are you good at looking at a plan and implementing it? Are you good with people -or- are you new to the fundraising world and would like to gain experience? Does it give you a good feeling to know that your work helps create financial stability for a good cause? Are you experienced with researching and writing grants? Then this would be the committee for you! The Development/Fundraising Committee’s duties include:
- Create the TMP strategic fundraising plan per Board requirements.
- Monitor the success of the fundraising plan and make adjustments to ensure the success of budgetary goals.
- Assist in developing fundraising projects.
- Arrange for and implement Board training in the areas of fundraising and development.
- Help plan and execute fundraising activities per the strategic plan by the Development Committee.
- Cultivate and recruit individual and business donors/sponsors.
- Create successful crowdfunding, mail, and email campaigns by working with the Communications Committee to develop a donor following and to adequately promote these activities.
- Make sure all donors are thanked and acknowledged properly.
- Make sure business sponsors are well advertised at events and on the website per donation level.
- Research grants and help write grant proposals.
- Work with the Communications Committee to promote events and major accomplishments to the public.
- Give input to the Committee Chair on new talent for the Development/Fundraising Committee.
- Recruit new and effective committee members (for all committees).
Education Committee (EC)
(approx. 3-5 members)
If you:
- are a retired teacher/administrator, a former teacher/administrator, a school psychologist, or a teacher of higher learning and are interested in using your connections and expertise to help get Texas Music Partners into our schools,
- have knowledge/expertise in putting together a teacher mentoring program for up-and-coming teachers currently in college,
this is the opportunity for you! The duties of the Education Advancement Committee are:
Note: You must not be getting a paycheck from an institution, or school district you will be working with through TMP, as it may constitute a conflict of interest.
- Contact teacher/principal colleagues to see if they are interested in partnering with, or offering any of the free individual TMP courses to their students.
- Network with friends and colleagues to see if there are others interested in partnering with, or offering any of the free individual TMP courses to their students.
- Communicate with schools who are using our courses to see how we can improve them.
- Communicate with schools who are using our courses to see if there are any more effective courses we could put together.
- Contact PTOs/PTAs to see if they will partner with us and can help us partner with their school.
- Promote TMP’s free lecture series to PTOs/PTAs.
- Help evaluate and improve TMP’s current and future curriculum.
- Help develop and manage a Teacher Mentoring Program.
- Work with the committee to see if there are any other measures TMP should be implementing, to make a bigger impact in the schools.
- Report major accomplishments to the Communications Committee for them to promote to the public.
- Give input to the Committee Chair on new talent for the EAC.
- Recruit new and effective committee members (for all committees).
Communications Committee
(approx. 5-9 members)
This committee has room for multiple talents. Are you good at PHP, CSS, and/or HTML5 using WordPress? Do you like to develop phone/tablet apps? Are you a promoter or marketing specialist? Do you have strategic contacts in the community to help TMP get its message to the right people? Are you a blogger or are you in the know about what is happening in the music and technology world? Are you good at getting results on social media? Crowdfunding? Are you good at working with others and helping our other committees promote their accomplishments? Then this is the committee for you! The Communications Committee is TMP’s liaison to the public. The duties of the Communications Committee include:
- Open doors by creating strategic alliances with reporters, bloggers, TV stations, radio stations, etc., and get TMP’s message out to the media.
- Research target audiences e.g. potential donors, PTOs/PTAs, schools, and making alliances with them.
- “Friendraise” by communicating and promoting TMP’s work in the community.
- Post articles and keep TMP in the social media spotlight. To see examples click here.
- Send newsletters to Educators and “Friends of Texas Music Partners” to educate and to promote our products and accomplishments.
- Work with all committees, especially the Event and Fundraising Committees to promote their campaigns.
- Help manage the website.
- Give input to the Committee Chair on new talent for the Communications Committee.
- Recruit new and effective committee members (for all committees).
